2018 COLCOA JURIES

I addition to the Audience choices, four juries will vote for the 2018 COLCOA AWARDS in three competitions: Cinema with two juries (critics and students), Television and Short Films. The COLCOA AWARDS will be announced on May 1st in the morning.

CINEMA COMPETITION – CRITICS JURY

COLCOA is proud to partner with LAFCA for the COLCOA Critics Awards. The 2018 LAFCA Jury will give a Critics Award, a Special Prize and a First Feature Award, by choosing among 30 new feature films in competition. LAFCA is a professional organization of Los Angeles-based film critics working in the Los Angeles print and electronic media. Each year since its creation in 1975, LAFCA members honor outstanding cinematic achievements during their annual Achievement Awards ceremony in January. LAFCA also sponsors film events and donates funds to various Los Angeles film organizations. Since 2016, the president of the organization is Claudia Puig. 

CINEMA COMPETITION – STUDENT JURY

As part of the COLCOA Educational program presented in association with E.L.M.A, ten American students (five from high schools and five from Colleges and Universities) will vote for the 2018 COLCOA American Students Award. In 2017, the prize went to POLINA, written by Valérie Müller-Preljocaj and directed by Angelin Preljocaj and Valérie Müller-Preljocaj, now released in the U.S. by Oscilloscope Laboratories. The 2018 COLCOA Students Jury has been established with the support of the American Association of French Teachers (A.A.T.F.).

SHORT FILM COMPETITION JURY

The COLCOA Short Film Competition will take place on Sunday April 29. Click here for complete program and schedule.
A jury of professionals will award short films in competition for the COLCOA Short Film Award, the COLCOA Short Film Special Prize and the COLCOA Short Film Special Mention. In 2017 these awards respectively went to Chasse Royale, What Tears Up Apart and Thank You Mr Imada.

TELEVISION COMPETITION JURY

A jury of professionals will vote for the COLCOA Television awards including Best TV Movie and Best TV Series. In 2017, these prizes went to Marion Forever 13 and Beautiful Loser (Season 1).
