From Tuesday April 22 to Saturday April 26, and on Monday April 28, come and celebrate French Classics at COLCOA with an exclusive program of digitally restored French favorites and special anniversary screenings.
COLCOA offers a unique opportunity to (re)discover French masterpieces on the big screen, some rarely shown in the United States, some shown for the first time in a digitally restored version.
- Tuesday April 22 - 1:45 pm - Renoir Theater: Digitally restored version of PURPLE NOON (Plein Soleil - 1960), based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith, co-written by Paul Gégauff and René Clément, directed by René Clément, starring Alain Delon, Maurice Ronet and Marie Laforêt. Presented in association with Janus Films, StudioCanal, FACF and La Cinémathèque Française. $5 - Free admission with presentation of same-day ticket.
- Wednesday April 23 - 2:00 pm - Renoir Theater: Digitally restored version of FAVOURITES OF THE MOON (Les Favoris de la lune - 1984) co-written by Gérard Brach and Otar Iosseliani, directed by Otar Iosseliani and starring Mathieu Amalric, Alix de Montaigu, Pascal Aubier, Jean-Pierre Beauviala.Presented in Association with Cohen Media Group (30th anniversary). $5 - Free admission with presentation of same-day ticket.
- Thursday April 24 - 1:30 pm - Truffaut Theater: L’AUBERGE ESPAGNOLE (2002), written and directed by Cédric Klapisch, starring Romain Duris, Audrey Tautou and Cécile de France. Presented as part of a Focus on writer/director Cedric Klapisch. $5 - Free admission with presentation of same-day ticket.
- Friday April 25 - 1:30 pm - Renoir Theater: THE MAN WHO LOVED WOMEN (1977) followed by a free panel to celebrate François Truffaut (1932-1984) moderated by Steven Gaydos (Chief Editor - Variety). Panelists will include Francois Truffaut's daughter Laura Truffaut; the director of La Cinematheque Francaise Serge Toubiana and writer/director Claude Lelouch. $5 - Free admission with presentation of same-day ticket.
- Saturday April 26 - 11:00 am - Renoir Theater: Digitally restored version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (La Belle et la Bête - 1946) written and directed by Jean Cocteau, starring Josette Day & Jean Marais. Presented in Association with Janus Films, SND/M6, FACF and La Cinémathèque Française. $5 - Free admission with presentation of same-day ticket.
- Monday April 28 - 2:00 pm - Renoir Theater: Digitally restored Director’s cut version of QUEEN MARGOT, (La Reine Margot - 1994) based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas, co-written by Danièle Thompson & Patrice Chéreau, directed by Patrice Chéreau (1944-2013) and starring Isabelle Adjani, Jean-Hugues Anglade and Daniel Auteuil. Presented in association with Cohen Media Group (20th anniversary – Homage to Patrice Chéreau). Free admission - No RSVP
- Monday April 28 - 3:20 pm - Truffaut Theater: Digitally restored version of THE MURDERER LIVES AT NUMBER 21(1942), co-written by Stanislas-André Steeman and Henri-Georges Clouzot, directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot, starring Pierre Fresnay, Suzy Delair, Jean Tissier.
