Upstart cable broadcaster OCS, home to HBO in France, has been rewarded for taking risks with series like the low budget hit Lazy Company. In keeping with that spirit comes this lighthearted Western that aims for laughs while respecting the genre and steering clear of pure parody. Television veterans Jonathan, François-David, and Pierre Cardonnel have built their latest show around Jack, Cole and Butch Templeton, three brothers whose questionable pursuits have put them at odds since childhood. When their mother’s farm burns down, the brothers reunite in the town of Two Rivers. Their aim is to get their hands on enough money to rebuild the family farm by robbing a gold convoy soon to pass through the town. As they devise a plan, the men try to blend in with the town’s humble inhabitants in order to avoid suspicion. Handsome but moronic Jack sets his sights on the Mayor’s daughter, while the straight-shooting Cole seduces the eccentric saloon keep. But as they launch their careers as real outlaws, they realize that the good folk of Two Rivers aren’t quite as upstanding as it first appeared.
